Many visitors and friends were fascinated with my demonstration of Chinese painting. One of my Chinese calligraphies(博爱)was donated to the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall for display.
In the Balestler area, the historic Sun Yat Sen Villa underwent a $5.6 million revamp, boasting a professionally curated museum displaying 180 pieces of artifacts and artworks.
The museum serves to commemorate Dr Sun’s pro-democracy movement which led to the 1911 revolution(辛亥革命) which saw him assuming the first president of the Republic of China. This building provides a common reference point for the people of Singapore and China.
According to historical record, Dr Sun visited Singapore eight times between 1900 and 1911.
